Candice-Lee’s favourite, all-natural, multi-tasking beauty balm!

Blog Post by In My Bag

I am SO excited to introduce you to my new favourite, all-natural beauty balm!

Meet Lanolab

Lanolab is a proudly South African, multi-use balm that’s locally manufactured. It works to exfoliate and hydrate the skin, heal and soothe minor burns and wounds, and speed up the healing process for cuts and minor rashes.

Why I Love It

Lanolab is fragrance-free – and that’s one of my favourite things about it! Fragrance is the biggest irritant in skincare. This balm contains two key ingredients:

  • Lanolin – a clean, natural moisturiser derived from sheep’s wool, similar to our own skin’s oil. It locks in moisture without clogging pores.

  • Papain – an enzyme extracted from papaya. It exfoliates dead skin cells, hydrates, and contains vitamins A & C, which help reduce inflammation and speed up healing.

Benefits of Lanolin & Papain

  • Lanolin is non-comedogenic, seals in moisture, and protects the skin in harsh conditions.

  • Papain works on the skin’s surface to renew, soften and calm inflammation.

Lanolab Is Free From:

Parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, petrolatum, colouring agents, silicones, GMOs, and fragrance. It’s a super clean formula, though not vegan due to the lanolin content.

How I Use Lanolab

Lanolab is incredibly versatile. Here are just a few of its uses:

  • Soothes & heals dry, chapped lips

  • Nourishes cuticles

  • Shapes eyebrows

  • Tames flyaways

  • Soothes redness after waxing

  • Adds a natural glow to lips

  • Soothes sunburnt skin

  • Helps with chafing, saddle sore, gravel rash, and post-run/surfing irritation

  • Heals cracked heels, nappy rash, and cracked nipples

Q&A with Lanolab Founder, Maryam

What sets Lanolab apart?
It’s locally manufactured, 100% natural, with no petrochemicals or fragrance. We use pharma-grade lanolin and high-quality papain. There’s no other skin repair balm on the market with so many uses — it’s perfect for your gym bag, diaper bag, or cosmetic case.

Some consumers mention the natural smell. Your response?
Only about 1% comment on the smell. Most fall in love after using it a few times. I never buy fragranced lip balms – they’re too drying. By keeping it fragrance-free, we avoid preservatives and additives – and many consumers appreciate that.

What inspired Lanolab?
We launched in 2014 when my husband needed a balm for chafing, saddle sores, and dry lips during sports events. We couldn’t find anything local, so we developed our own with the help of a pharmacist.

Biggest challenge?
Distribution. We’ve had so much national interest, and we're working hard to build awareness and get the product into more stores across South Africa.

Final Thoughts

Lanolab is a fantastic alternative to Eight Hour Cream – except it’s fragrance-free and gentler for even the most sensitive skin. If you love natural, multi-tasking skincare that works, this balm deserves a spot in your routine.
